Welcome. I’m Abdullah, a PhD Researcher at Memorial University of Newfoundland. I live in St John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador.

This site covers the research questions that take up most of my time:

• Synthetic data and LLM-generated data: how we generate, validate, and trust data that no longer comes directly from the world.
• Information systems and design science: building and evaluating artifacts that solve real organizational problems.
• Human-computer interaction and explainable AI: making intelligent systems understandable to the people who rely on them.
• Data management: the unglamorous but essential foundation everything above depends on.

Before starting my PhD, I worked in three roles. I was a Developer Relations Engineer in the Data-as-a-Service space. I was a Senior Executive in risk management and treasury investments at a national stock exchange regulator. I was a freelance software engineer working with data and Python.
